Abingdon Senior Teams Preseason
On Tuesday July 4th Abingdon RUFC begins preparation for the 2017/18 season. A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes and we are all excited about the coming season. Recruitment has been top of the agenda and both the 1's, 2's and vets squads are looking strong as we approach preseason.
From the 4th of July onwards we will train at Lambrick Way every Tuesday and Thursday between 7-9pm. Sessions will be varied and will encompass the following:
- Game play - Team building - Strength and conditioning - Organisation
- 7s gameplay
Our commitment to improvement starts with the very first week. The structure of week one will be focussed around current fitness levels with the aim of improving them over the weeks of preseason.
We welcome all players regardless of ability as one of the main aims of pre-season is to unite as a club, work hard and have fun. The plan is to have a team meeting to start with including introduction to the coaching staff and captains.
7s gameplay will be included in the preseason for both enjoyment, conditioning and in preparation for the annual Abingdon 7's tournament on Saturday 12th August.
The first half of the season will be a reflection of our commitment to preseason. The focus of preseason is around player enjoyment and development so please get involved early and you'll see it's varied and enjoyable.
There are plans to offer player incentives, so there is another reason to get down early, more details will follow.
