Abingdon RFC Minis welcomes players from age 6 years to 12 years. The practical lower age limit is 6 although well co-ordinated rising 5s would not be turned away. Under 6's are unable to play in competitive games for insurance reasons. Under 6's will be gauged on their ability and streamed accordingly, however all have a great time and enjoy a fun packed morning.
What is Mini Rugby? - A game format introduced at each age group in order that players can progress towards the 15 a-side game. The Rugby Continuum introduces those skills gradually to players through the age groups.
- Under-6 Non-contact tag rugby and ball skills.
- Under-7 Non-contact tag-rugby.
- Under-8 Non-contact tag-rugby.
- Under-9 Introduces tackling and unopposed scrums + line outs.
- Under-10 Introduces opposed scrums + line outs.
- Under-11 Introduces kicking.
- Under-12 Consolidates the under-11 game.
